NYG: Effiong, Salami With Brace As Lagos Reaches Girls Final And Boys Semifinals of Football Event

Lagos State has qualified for the final and semi-finals in the girls and boys categories of the football event of the 7th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

Both teams dispatched their opponents 2-0 in their respective matches at the Stephen Keshi Stadium earlier today.

The girls blazed the victory trail with Peace Effiong scoring once in each half to her team beat Cross River State, while Fawas Salami did the same for the boys in their quarterfinal clash with Enugu State.

The boys reached this stage by edging Enugu State 2-1 in their last group march, and today they proved their earlier victory was not a fluke by scoring two goals with none conceded.

Both teams are now one and two matches way from bagging two of the prestigious gold medals of the annual sports fiesta when they take on yet unknown opponents in the final and semi-finals respectively.
