NWFL WK8: Edo Queens host Bayelsa Queens in fight-to-finish battle

As the Nigeria Women Football League club sides begin second phase of the 2023/24 NWFL season across the country, Edo Queens Football Club will on Wednesday evening February 24th, 2024 host Beyelsa Queens FC of Yenogua at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City in continuation of the 2024 NWFL Super Six race.

Edo Queens who currently seat 3rd on table in Group B with 12 points from seven matches of the abridged league, are mentally and physically ready to give the 'Prosperity Girls' a good run for their money not minding the calibre of players Coach Domo might be to parading against the Moses Aduku led home side.

Edo Queens find themselves on the fringes of the Super six race with three points gap separating them from the group leaders Rivers Angels. The atmosphere in camp has shown that they are fully ready for the showdown against Beyelsa Queens tomorrow in Benin City.

Bayelsa Queens have enjoyed an edge over Edo Queens so far this season with 3-0 home league win in the first leg. But it will be a different ball game tomorrow as the Benin-City based girls is sure to gain revenge with a convincing win against the Bayelsa Queens Ladies.

However, Edo Queens records at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the first stanza of the league makes for a remarkable reading, with no loss at home. So the Moses Aduku side need to win all their remaining games both home and away to stand any realistic chance of overhauling the Super six tittle race to prove to their teeming fans that the team can do without the presence of some particular players who see themselves as the engine room of the club.

Despite losing four regular players to injury, it is believed that manager Moses Aduku, has other replacements for them. The NWFL no doubt is a difficult competition, and the two teams that will be on parade against each other on Wednesday are a very good rival, but be sure that Edo Queens will carry the day in tomorrow's encounter. For the fans, is operation three points.

The Godwin Obaseki Queens are also very confidence of what the future has for them. Their target in this critical stage of the NWFL is to win all games whether home or away so that the dream of having Edo State flag hoist at the Super six and possibly be crown champions at the end of the season.

After Wednesday's clash with Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens will be away to face FC Robo of Lagos in another explosive cracker.
