Former Royal Queens Stars Return to Inspire the Next Generation

In a heartwarming show of gratitude and solidarity, three illustrious former players of Royal Queens Football Club—Weyinmi Remilekun, Chika Idika, and Vera Samuel—returned to their football roots to give back to the club that shaped the early stages of their careers. Their visit was not just a trip down memory lane but a meaningful effort to inspire, encourage, and support the current generation of players at the Warri-based club.

Weyinmi Remilekun, now plying her trade at Racing Athletic Club Casablanca in Morocco, is widely regarded for her tireless work ethic and commanding presence on the pitch. Her international experience is a beacon of hope for many young Nigerian female footballers aspiring to play on the global stage.

Joining her was Chika Idika, a dependable midfielder with Delta Queens FC of Asaba, who has carved a solid reputation in the NWFL Premiership with her consistency and leadership. Chika’s return to Royal Queens evoked warm memories of her breakthrough days at the club, where she developed the foundational skills that now define her game.

Also present was Vera Samuel, a fast-rising star at Bayelsa Queens FC of Yenagoa, whose energy and determination have seen her become a key player in one of Nigeria’s most formidable women’s teams. Vera’s story, like the others, is a testament to what is possible with hard work, resilience, and the right support system.

During their visit, the trio spent time training with the Royal Queens squad, shared their personal journeys, and offered words of motivation to the young players. They also donated kits, training equipment, and other football essentials—highlighting their commitment to uplifting the next generation.

Speaking during a short ceremony at the club grounds, Weyinmi Remilekun said:

"Royal Queens gave us the platform to believe in our dreams. Coming back here is our way of saying ‘thank you’ and also reminding these girls that their dreams are valid too."

Chika Idika added:

"We were once in their shoes—training hard, hoping to be seen. It’s our duty to help keep the ladder strong for those climbing after us."

Vera Samuel, visibly emotional, noted:

"This club is more than a team; it’s a family. We owe our careers to the discipline and love we received here."

The club’s management expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of its former players and lauded their selfless act of giving back. Royal Queens FC continues to be a breeding ground for talent, and the return of its stars is a powerful reminder of the values it instills—loyalty, excellence, and community.

As these remarkable women continue to make strides on the national and international stage, their return serves as a powerful inspiration for every aspiring footballer who wears the Royal Queens jersey.
