NPFLBayelsa United slam Bosso over disrespectful exit to Barau FC

The management of Bayelsa United have formally accused Coach Ladan Isah Bosso of abandoning his duties as Technical Adviser and breaching his contract, one week after he was unveiled by newly promoted Barau FC of Kano.

In a petition addressed to the Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and dated August 1, 2025, Bayelsa United labelled Bosso’s actions a “brazen show of arrogance and disrespect” to the club, the state government, and the people of Bayelsa.

Bosso, who was announced last week as the new Technical Adviser of Barau FC, reportedly accepted a more lucrative offer without formally notifying his previous employers in Yenagoa.

The Bayelsa United board revealed they were unaware of his departure until the news broke publicly.

“Ladan Bosso has absconded from duty without any form of communication,” the club’s chairman, Nwakwe Tarilaye, wrote in the petition.

“It is now public knowledge that Ladan Bosso has contracted a new deal with newly promoted Barau FC of Kano when he has a subsisting contract with us.”

Bayelsa United further argued that Bosso’s sudden exit, especially as President of the Nigeria Coaches Association, sends a damaging message about professionalism and accountability within Nigerian football.

“His conduct only speaks to a brazen manifestation of arrogance and disrespect to the government and people of Bayelsa State,” the club insisted.

The club is demanding ₦30 million in damages, citing disruption of pre-season plans and breach of contract.

Barau FC had unveiled Bosso last week amid excitement about his arrival, with the Kano-based outfit hoping his wealth of experience will be key in their maiden NPFL campaign.
