2025 NWFL Championship Draw: Royal Queens Eye Premiership Promotion

 

The stage is set for an exciting 2025 NWFL Championship season following the official draws held today. Twenty clubs were placed into four competitive groups, with each group winner set to secure promotion to the prestigious NWFL Premiership.

In Group A1, Royal Queens will battle Gallant Queens, Castmog Ladies, and First Mahi Babes for the sole promotion ticket. The Warri-based side, who narrowly missed out last season, are determined to make this campaign count as they chase a return to the top flight of Nigerian women’s football.

The Pride of Warri, as they are fondly called, have already begun fine-tuning their preparations for what promises to be a tough championship. One of the team’s standout players, Lucky, expressed optimism about Royal Queens’ chances of coming out on top of Group A1.

“This is a big opportunity for us, and we know what is at stake. We respect every team in our group, but we believeh in our ability to win games and finish first. Our target is clear — gain promotion to the NWFL Premiership. The spirit in camp is very high, and we are ready to fight for it,” she said.

Elsewhere, Group A2 features Sunshine Queens, Fortress Ladies, Unification FC, and Kwara Ladies in whath looks to be another tough pool. Group B1 has Pelican Stars, Ahudiyannem Queens, Wazbak International, and Chosen Generation Angels, while Group B2 is packed with Osun Babes, Ghetto Tigers, Moje Queens, Delta Babes, and Imo Striker Queens.

With only the group winners guaranteed promotion, the competition is expected to be fierce across the four groups. But for Royal Queens, the mission is simple — win Group A1 and seal a long-awaited return to the NWFL Premiership.

The 2025 NWFL Championship promises to deliver thrilling football, emerging talents, and fierce rivalries as clubs battle for a place in the top tier of women’s football in Nigeria.
